The WEHL offers a core program for players from age 5 (Initiation Program) to 17 (Midget) with no contact at all levels.

Competitive contact hockey with body contact (checking) is offered by the Ottawa West Golden Knights. at the competitive B level. A cross-district city-wide competitive league is also available through the Ottawa Sting, offering both competitive A and AA levels. Competitive AAA hockey is offered by the Ottawa Jr 67s AAA Hockey Association.
